What motor will suit Fagor Drive

    I have a 3 axis machine centre with a Fagor 8055 controller, which I am wanting to add a 4th axis (A)
    I have acquired a Fagor AXD servo drive with Output 3 X 0-460AC, 8amp max, 0-800hz.
I am now looking for a servo motor which will run with this drive.
Do I need to use a Fagor brand or will other makes run OK?
If so, what specs do I need to check, phase/voltage/hz/etc ?

It is better to use the original Fagor motor to get the best performance, or change the motor and driver all with other brand.

You need an AC servo motor. It needs to be 400V class. The feedback device needs to match what the drive is expecting. If the drive accepts a standard signal (like quadrature encoder) then almost any old servo motor should work with it, assuming the drive has a good way to change the parameters to suit the new motor.

Lots of cheap servos on ebay, not so many with 400V rating.

    Good Luck

    Thank you for your help.
I purchased a motor from ebay that I hope to get to run.

Not sure about the encoder, I believe (with my limited knowledge) the Fagor will handle sine-wave or resolver.
The Fagor has about 60 parameter settings, so I'm hoping to get them to match.

AB is usually resolver, It may be OK as long as the resolver excitation is compatible?

The motor specs show 'Multi-turn High Resolution Encoder'
    Google search describes as:
Multi-Turn Encoders...are absolute encoders that also measure cumulative rotation.
The motor label shows: Freq 0 - 400 hz. when the driver is 0 - 800 hz. Is this going to be a problem?
    I have a lot learn.

The driver is capable of up to 800 Hz. The motor only requires up to 400Hz for max speed. No problem at all.

For an 8 pole motor, which it most likely is, that would give you 6000rpm at 400Hz.

That sounds good, the motor is rated as 6000 rpm.

if Al is right about the ab drive taking resolver feedback, it does not matter if output frequency of drive is ok or not: your motor being absolute encoder feedback will not work with it. most likely you have Heidenhain Endat or Biss or Stegmann or SSI or gray code absolute encoder. An absolute encoder is not a resolver. you need to know if your drive can accept the specific type absolute encoder your motor has first.
