How To Change the default font

In Auto CAD 2000 is there a way to change the default text font? I don't seem to be able to see a way to do that. Any help or comments will be welcome. Thank you

Yes. Can't remember exactly where you do it, but I can check tonight and get back to you if nobody else responds.

    Format > Text Style.

You need to do this in the template you start with and save the template.

Yep. That's it, but youbalso have to either remember to start a new drawing using that template. I modified my acad.dwt template with all the layers I like to start with, fonts, line weights, everything set the way I like them. Then uncheck the checkbox Tools/Options/System/General_Options/Show_Startup_dialog. Then evertime you click "new" it will default to acad.dwt. Otherwise it starts a hard coded basic drawing with no personalized settings.

AutoCAD 2009 doesn't have that option, but I believe it's the same as setting the STARTUP variable to 0.
In Options > FIles, you can set the name of the default template to use if you want to use a different template from acad.dwt

Personally, i have 2 or 3 different templates I use, and keep the dialog box open so I can choose which one when I start a new drawing.

Not sure what you mean. The template option I can find is a grouping of standard drawing frames, A, AA, B,C,D size drawing paper frames with title blocks. I don't see any options to change anything about those items. Can you give me more for just Auto CAD 2000?.

Generally, here's what you want to do.
Start a new drawing from scratch.
Then, use Format Text Style and set up as many different text styles as you want.
Then, Format Dimension Style and set up as many dimension styles as you want.
Set up any other options that are saved with the drawing, like Ortho and Snap modes.
You probably want to set up different layers as well.

Then, go to File > Save As, and change the file type to .dwt (Template) and save your template.
Now, when you start a new drawing, use that template.

I use a couple different templates for different applications.
