    IPM Alarm

Daewoo 300 Puma Lathe Fanuc 21T has 449 Z-axis INV IPM alarm in winter only. Works fine during the summer. In winter machine must be on for an hour in order to clear alarm. Anybody had this happen to them before?

What # does the drive display? Sounds like a fan going out.

    Hi
Not sure if you know this or not but the Ipm alarm is usually caused from servo amp transistor module. With problem only in winter I might look into moisture/corrosion on transistor screw terminals aswell as make sure they are tight. The latter is only common with refurb/repaired units. Hope this helps, apologies if not.

How do we identify the transistor module?

The transistor modules are big black blocks in the back of the unit.

Solution: Replaced Z-axis drive. All is well.
