Hi ,
Usally we use 60w laser power with 50mm lens engraving and some time we place a piece of paper on it,to prevent the laser rays reflect, what is your opinion?
Hope this can help you

Using a wet paper towel over your glass when engraving could reducing the shattering of it and create higher precision result. (That what I've read anyway)
I've also seen comment about combining Laser cutter and sand blasting to create deeper higher res result.
You need a 1.5" lens to engrave this
3mm is VERY small .. whatever lens you use , you will struggle to get lettering below 1mm that is crisp and readable on a 3mm diameter piece of glass , especially cos glass does not vaporise , it actually shatters due to thermal shock which leads to ill defined laser engraving.

With focus lens lower than 63.5 mm and laser tube lower than 80 W , it will give a good engraving work . Letters height of 1.5 mm are engraved on MDF as the picture .Glass and Acylic also will do . What's your opinion ?
