Video of My CNC machine doing some 3d foam cutting.

I always liked watching video's of CNC machines I found online, so i decided to post one of my machine. It's about 2 minutes long I think.

Here's a link to the image if that doesn't work above:
    Image of what I machined

Here's the URL/Link for the video download:
Klick's CNC Video ***EDIT** mpeg1 video, only 8MB

The download is 37MegaBytes (**EDIT** mpeg1 video only 8MB now) so hopefully connection doesn't get fried, if it doesn't work just try again later. I have a cable modem with decent upload, but who knows.

I figured I would machine something with my nickname as that would show that it's me, It's pretty crude really, the CAD file was designed in AC3D. AC3D is easy and it runs on linux.

The G-Code was produced by a custom application I wrote, I don't really have any CAM software, and it's easier for me to write a converter then to learn how to use the other ones eheh. The first pass moves on the X axis at 0.10 inches, the next pass goes at 0.05inch increments. The tool is a 1/8" ball nose.

My machine runs linux EMC as you can see, servo motors and geckodrivers. It used to be a hobbycnc.com design, I rebuilt the Z axis block and the gantry section out of lexan and plexiglass.

Total machine time was about 30 minutes, the video was sped up 30times for that part.

Hope everyone is able to view it, you'll need DivX, I tested it in Windows XP Media player, I have divx installed though, you might have to goto divx.com to get the codec, not sure.

    Enjoy,
    Ross

There is over 80 downloads of the video clip from my server, and not one comment! I guess my machine isn't very good hehe. I just wanted to make sure the video worked, since I encoded it with a new program.

    Hi,

I have dial-up so it would take forever to see the video. However, I'd like to
see pix of your machine if you could show them. The type of construction interests me as one can always learn something from others.

    Thanks
    Jack C.

I couldn't get on. Did you get 80 complete downloads, or 80 disconnects before the file started playing? You could try uploading to putfile or similar. 37MB for 2 minutes is a lot. 5MB/minute is modest but useable.

It took me about 45 minutes to download it, and I have a VERY fast cable connection.

I think you sped it up too fast. I'd rather see a shorter clip at normal speed.

I downloaded it and it took about 10-15 mins. I have a broadband 256mb connection. My connection downloads at about 60kb sec.

Anyway, I could not watch the movie after I downloaded it. Windows media player said somthing about can not locate codecc.

The sound played just no picture.

very nice, would prefer a slower movie, aka normal speed

always drive slow on the fastlane

BTW I love those cnc movies as well!!

I re-encoded the video, 37MB was huge for the quality and length, I don't do much encoding so I didn't really know what I was doing. The video is now an MPEG1 video, so as long as you aren't running windows 3.1 you should be able to view it

It's also 8MB now, won't fry my cable modem's upload anymore.

I thought it was cool I am so excited to start building a machine for a friend of mine. I work at an encoder company so I should be able to get parts. I just am new to all of this.
