The plans aren't up on the website yet - when do you anticipate putting them up?

I was just about to drop the dime on a CNCRouterparts 4x8, so a BOM on the hybrid would be really good to compare costs...

Or do like they do in the boat industry and have a small 'study plan' that gives the BOM, dimensions, general layout, but no details.

Your forum is closed to us mere mortals.

The cost is no help at all, unless I was buying in the US from your suppliers.

As I don't live in the US, a BOM is much more useful - I can look through my own price lists and price it accordingly.

It doesn't need to be comprehensive, just the major components (extrusions, transport, etc.)

This looks great, but I just ordered the plans for the hybrid! When will these be posted online?

It takes a while for me to get all the components together here in New Zealand to make this.

the template files are available to the existing members which you are now. you can see the Evolution build logs there also which will give you a real good feel for the machine and what people say about it.
    Thanks,

    Joe,

Does the 3200.00 estimated cost include everything? Meaning all mechanical and electronics for a ready to run machine, excluding software. And would that include a stand and spoil board?

    Thanks,
    Richard

    HI,

How much is the cast aluminum parts kit for evo1.0?
Is it higher or cheaper than the parts for hybrid plans?

Yes, Also looking at the cost and fesability of making them out of plate aluminum.

    Hi Joe,

How do you paint the gear racks ? is it just with a paint can or did you go with powder coating ? the finish look is great but I'm afraid it's a huge pain in the b*tt to have all the "teeth" masked..

    Thanks

    Hi joe,

I'm very interested in building the Evolution 1 machine. I was just wondering what size Stepper motors you use ans if the advice you gave the others of buying the older plans still applies. I live in South Africa so naturally i was looking into building a mechmate but I think your machine will be more suited to me purely from a price perspective.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Well finally bought the plans, been waiting to do it for some time and very excited to get started, just waiting for the plans and to get on to Joe,s forums. the machine looks awesome. just wondering what would this machine compare to if it was a commercially built machine? Graham

    These are sweet looking machines!

I'm finally tuning in to the evolution of the design.

Is Joe still selling the castings? I don't see them on his web site.

I have been selling them to my members, most build it now. I cut them out of 3/4" plate aluminum now the castings worked good, but the plat is nice and flat, It is 4 Plates plus 16 Bearing adjusters as seen in pictures and my forum also. Plus about 75 build logs If I was to guess.
    Thanks,
    Joe
