I use these on most parts that i make and i'm looking to cut down the time it takes to draw them in, does anyone know of a feature that i can use to automatically insert these boxes into each part onto the RefPlane that will dimension them correctly?



Say the part is 3m i would draw a box at either end around 150mm, and 3 in the middle evenly spaced at around 450mm.

However, if the part was 500mm i would just need 2 boxes at around 100mm at either end.

Not sure if this is even possible but i would appreciate any help, if my explaination is hard to understand please say.

You need to talk someone skilled in SolidWorks macro's or DriveWorks.

In solidworks there is a command called linear pattern. Try playing around with that it will do some cool stuff.

wouldn't linear pattern require me to sketch one of the boundaries and work out the dimensions for each of the others?

I'm looking for the process to be totally automated.
