    Foam mold making

    Hi,
I'm newbee to foam molding. I'm going to make one, for the first time and have 2 questions:

    1. I'm going to cnc machine it and this foam-spray is being sold in different types. What parameters should I tell the seller so that he gives me a brand that is closest to what needed for good cnc result? May be, that the foam result must be the hardest one, etc.?

    2. What else should I buy so that after cnc machining, I can make a mold surface around the foam, which closes all holes and leaves a smooth surface please?

    Thank you,

    Not sure I understand.

Are you milling a mould out of foam you will make/mix yourself? And then cast foam on that mould?

    Why?

I think Foam blocks are used because it gives the option of high speed milling but is may not be the cheapest option.

If you make a small mould I'd use mdf instead of foam. Mdf would require less surface preparation as the cells in the foam need a lot of filling, taking a lot of time to get it right.
