    ImageCarve and V-Carve...

    Hello,

Just wanted to get everyones opinion on which one of these programs is better:

    ImageCarve (http://imagecarve.com/)
    V-Carve (http://www.vectric.com/)

Do these programs not really do the same thing? I see that ImageCarve and V-Carve take different file types, but they seem to be used for similar things (although V-Carve seems more catered towards sign makers while ImageCarve is more catered to those wanting to do, well, image carving).

    Any insight is appreciated.

You answered your own question. I haven't used either one, but it appears ImageCarve carves images, nothing more. V-Carve, on the other hand, will take graphic designs and carve them using a "V" bit. It can also do some other 2D operations in addition to the carving. Everyone who tries it seems to give it great reviews.

Gerry is correct, I use both of them and ImageCarve is only for making engravings where as Vcarve is used only for making signs and such.
Check out www.mcmmachine.com for some examples of both.
