Machine to make RC glider wings

I have a 2 axis (x and y) hot wire foam cutting machnine I built. Works well but I want to go up a step.

I would like to build a 3 axis (x, y and Z) router so I can make fuse and wing moulds.

    What do I need?

    1) a machine (which I will build myself). Any good plans out there? Wings are up to 2m in length
    2) a driver board. What do I buy?
    3) software to drive it. What do I buy?
    4) autocad (or similar) to make the models
    5) software to 'convert' the .dfx files to a format the driver software needs?

    Anything else?

I don't know what is involved, any info would be great.

    Thanks, Neal

    Hi Hot air,

You should read "DLG foam or hollow ellipse wings" on this site. You will have the software for wings (up to 100cm long and 25cm wide for the half wing), suggestions for the CNC router to purchase and sites explaining how to make the wings. If you go for wider or longer wings, you will need to use "scale" on some axis to widen the wing computed. Using Gmax or similar drawing software, you will be able to produce a Gcode for the pod. To produce the pod, i prefer carving it in foam then make a two part mould out of this male carving.

If any more question, you may contact me directly.
