    TORCH HEIGHT CONTROL PROBLEM

I USE A HYPERTHERM POWERMAX 1100 WITH THC CONNECTED TO MY WIN-CNC CONTROL SYSTEM. MY VOLTAGE FLUCTUATES WAY TOO MUCH FOR THE THC TO WORK PROPERLY. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS?

without more info, the simplest guess would be a weak work surface ground, moisture in the air, or consumable issues (worn, loose, or wrong parts)

Your height control must have some background set up parameters...such as gains, acceleration, hysteresis. The feedback loop and the reaction needs to be dampened so that it averages the Raw DC voltage from a plasma. All plasma systems produce a rather large amount of "hash" or voltage fluctuation.....when averaged and dampened this voltage works well to control height

Go :: CNC4PC :: iNtRo and look Capacitive Height Controller.
It detects the height without cutting voltage and keep it constant, whatever your cutting speed.
    Regards
    Can
