    X2 X-Axis Gib miss aligned

    Guys,
Was pulling apart my mini mill do some cleanup and adjustments and found a problem with the X Axis gib. It is not aligned correctly with the dovetail on the table. Have not noticed it before but it has probably been like this for a while. When you pull the gib out you can see the wear on it where it contacts the dovetail in just the one spot. The Y axis gib looks aligned much better and is located further towards the top and seems parallel to the dovetail. The set screws are in the alignment holes in the attached picture and locate the gib in the position shown.
Looking for some advice on how to straighten this up.

    Thanks!
    Chris Olsen

You can try tapering the ends of the set screws in to points > which will move the point of contact higher by about 1/2 the thread diameter.

It helped on mine... it's still not "right" but it's closer.

Alternately, fill and re-drill the sockets on the gib.

    It's a common fault on X2's.
Q: How many tools does it take before a simple task becomes a project?
A: Just one. I'm the Tool that turns a simple task in to a project.
