Im trying to braoch a part with a haas lathe. the broach is torx t8. The broach ony goes in about .05 in before it brakes. i think the chips are building up. i drill it with a .069 drill. i have to go in at least .15 deep. i dont have a rotary Rotary Broach . i have dont bigger hex broach 3/16 with no problem but this is to small me me.

    Cheaps? Do you mean chips?

Are you using M19 or C-axis positioning before trying to plunge the tool into the part? If yes, break it into several cycles for different depths, with a drill cycle in between each broach cycle to clear excess material.

sorry yes chips. . i didn't try m19. i was just reading that you can us it to in index it m19 p. i was thinking about doing it but was afraid to try it because i didn't know that haas could do that. But is there a away to read where it is at on the position, like a c-axis.

If you do not have C axis option installed, you cannot read the spindle position.

On the size broach and stroke you are doing, I do not think running coolant on the broaching op will help. Still use it on drilling though to flush chips.

works way better but i have one chip corner on the torx broach from the night before. We order new broach and a rotary broach. should i just live it alone and just use the broach be itself or use the rotary broach tomorrow.

If you have enough depth on your broach, you might can resharpen.

work great with out the rotary broach. it created to loose. and lots of chip buildup. what i did was drill broach re drill and broach to get my depth that i want. works great now.
