How do you create the transition from heel to neck on a guitar neck?

    Hi All,

Can someone explain how to create the contour that goes from the heel to the necK?

If you look at the second picture on this page titled "Figure 2. Screen Shot from Rhino3D" you'll see the contour on the left side where it goes from a rectangle (heel of the neck) and transitions to the neck.

How do you create this transition? Going from a rectangle to a semicircle?

I'm also going to have another transition from the headstock to the neck.

Have you watched any YouTube videos on Rhino? Cadjunkie or someone like that has a tutorial on something exactly like that, if I was infront of Rhino I could tell you more.

    Thanks for your reply,

I've watched all those videos and they have helped so much.....but I think I figured it out. I used the network surface command along with the options to create the transitions....

    Thanks,

I drew 2 rails and the profiles for the ends of the neck, one arc and one 3 sides of a rectangle. "Sweep 2 rails". "Extrude surface" the 3 sides of the rectangle. move that surface slightly apart from the neck surface and then "blend surfaces".

I'm a beginner at CAD. Been trying many ways to do neck transitions. So far like this method best because it is easy. There are many ways to do neck transitions but some of those are difficult for folks new to modeling. One of the CAD experts on the MoI forum shared this technique. This model was done in MoI (Moment of Inspiration) - it uses networking and blending - also possible in Rhino. https://www.cnczone.com/forums/attac...d=393194&stc=1https://www.cnczone.com/forums/attac...d=393196&stc=1https://www.cnczone.com/forums/attac...d=393198&stc=1 if you want I can show you how to do it this way.
