    holding tolerance

    trying to machine a hole with +/- .001 around 11.700 long. having trouble with it being to big at top and bottom for the first .5 to 1.0 deep. tried more spring passes and adjusting wire tension and pretension. We are have a Mitsubishi FA20S.

    If you know which way it is tapering use your u,v axis to cut taper oppsite of what you are getting to compensate . I find the taper in long holes is caused buy the the eroded wire passing throught the burn run wire speed as fast as possible on finishing .

    thanks but done a little more research and found that i need to slow down feedrate on 1st skim and increase my voltage gap to cut more material out of middle of part. I am now able to hold with in .0003 from top to bottom.
