Hardinge Conquest ST-25 air leak main spindle

We put a used ST-25 on the floor fired it up and things seemed to be OK. Then after removing the guide bushing (the #2 main spindle collet) from the main spindle to get to the main collet, the machine developed a massive air leak in the main spindle. It drains my 120 gallon air compressor in a couple of minutes and I haven’t been able to track it down. And ideas would be welcome thanks.

Hi, there might be a problem with the air hoses in your guide bush. A small air purge is being done from the behind of gb while the machine runs to prevent oil leakage to the main spindle side.
