    Chiller Unit

I was cutting and the machine suddenly started jerking, the work light started flickering, then the axis started reading erratic. Come to find out the chiller unit was causing all of this havoc. It was trying to start the compressor, but couldn't and instead was causing a power loss.

    Two questions:

    1) Can I run it without the cooler part, but the pump still circulating until I can get it fixed?

2.) Is it possible to replace the compressor, or whatever motor it has in it, or do I have to replace the whole unit?

Remove the pump (gold assy) some times the bearing gets a lot of rust overloading the motor; also remove the big nut (2 of them)and clean the screen inside.

Go inside the cabinet and unplug the chiller and motor. You can run without them. The pump is made by Procon and the motor numbers will be on the unit. You should be able to replace both the units relatively cheap.
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.

The circulation pump is working, it is the compressor that is locked up. I found a new chiller unit for $750 on the KMAC website, but would rather just replace the compressor if I can find a new compatible replacement.
