We have a 96 Vf2 that just started to reboot itself on its own. This happens when the machine finishes a cycle. I pressed cycle start and it rebooted. It happened a few times. I went in, blew out the cabinet, checked all the connections, seems fine now. Anyone have any idea what could cause this just so I can take some preventive measures

Check all of the low voltages you can find; +/- 12vdc, and +/-5vdc. These will be present at the servo drive cards, the processor/vido/mocon stack, and at the power distribution board (near the main contactor switch).

Check to make sure that, where present, you have good voltages. Try tapping on the power supply to see if the voltage will drop out on you. You can try unplugging and plugging back in all of the low voltage connectors; power off of course. Sometimes the connections can oxidize and the reconnection of the plugs will help establish a good connection again.

Also, if you haven't done it in a while, backup all machine files pronto! ie: parameters, settings, offsets, variables, programs; just in case.

Thanks I will do all that. Machine has been running fine all day.

HFo said it is probably the main processor board that needs replacing and it will be $3000.

Could that really be the cause of intermittent issues?
