    2000 VF-4 Shuttle Fault

    Have a problem with my 2000 VF-4.
Had a power outage in the middle of a tool change. (thanks Sandy)
good to go now but the tool change recovery is not working
I would call my service center but they are closed due to state of emergency (thanks again Sandy)
The shuttle is to the right.
The tool is in the spindle and the shuttle.
When I try to do a tool change Recovery I get the following:
Z is in an unsafe condition, Release tool then jog Z up
not sure how to do this as the tool can not come out as the shuttle is in.
and I can not jog z up with the tool release active.
I thought that zero all axis would move the shuttle to the left but I get
alarm 114 shuttle out Fault when I try.
    anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jerry

It is a pain, but you can cut the power to the machine and then rotate the arm for the tool changer until it is out of the way. It can be pushed by hand or tool. I did it a bunch while having to rebuild my tool change motor.

Pressing 'Zero Return' then 'Single' should retract the shuttle. If the tool is still clamped in the spindle then you should have no problem, if it is not then the tool may fall as the shuttle retracts.

This is usually how I do it. If the tool is not locked in the spindle, I try to manually remove the tool from the shuttle first if at all possible. If not, put something soft under it for when it falls.

Just to clarify, while in recovery, there should be manual controls that will allow you to unclamp the spindle and jog Z+ if needed. I usually advise using them only as a last resort since you can overtravel the machine and cause more headache, but if you are careful they work as designed.

Hopefully you got things figured out by now, but let us know if you are still stuck.
