Arrow Orange Vises - 100% Made in USA

Just wanted to introduce Orange Vise Company to the forum.

Orange Vise Company - CNC Machine Vises, Fixturing, and Workholding Products

We're a new company founded in 2012 that specializes in workholding products for professional production and job shops. Right from the beginning, we committed ourselves to continually creating innovative products and proving that American ingenuity could not only compete, but raise the bar of performance, quality, and value in the modern global marketplace.

Every product we make and sell must meet our exceedingly high standards of quality, performance, and value, and without exception, must be 100% made in the USA.

Our vise design is particularly unique. It can transform from a double-station vise, with a center jaw that be mounted in the center or offset positions, to a single station vise with the fixed jaw located at either end of the vise, front or rear. Furthermore, quick change features can be found top-to-bottom as standard equipment. The vise body has integrated ball couplers (a hybrid of zero-point and ball locking systems) for easy mounting to a machine table, fixture plate, or tombstone. The entire vise can be mounted and fully assembled, or fully disassembled and unmounted, in less than 2 minutes with 0.0004" or better repeatability.

    Multiple patents pending.

Very nice. Any plan for a smaller version, perhaps around the size of Chick's 1030?

All the best with the new venture. It'd be great to see some more of your machining videos - they'd have to be among the best I've seen, always enjoyed them

    Regards,

    Jason

I just tried it and it works fine for me, do you have a DNS issue with the ISP maybe?

    cheers,

Not that I am aware of.
    Curious.
    Frustrating too.

    EDIT:
The web site is now accessible, as noted in a later posting by the company.

    Cheers

Just looked at your web site and watched the videos...
What you should be doing is giving presentation lessons to every other company in the machinating world.

    RCaffin,

It should be working now. I had some security measures in place from a few months ago that I forgot to remove. Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, we'll be working on a narrower version in 2013. The 1030 you mentioned has a rough footprint of 4" x 12", which is pretty much in line with what we were planning. Length is easily customizable, so we can always tailor that to the customer's needs without much fuss.

We'll be putting up a lot more videos in the near future. Hopefully I'll have time to roll a few out before the holidays.

    Thanks again!

Here's a close up photo showing the Quick-Change Ball Couplers integrated into the bottom of the vise body (they use a 1.25-12 thread)

We include four (4) quick-change jaw plates with every vise. Remove or install them with a 1/8 turn each of two low-head, SHC screws.

A removable dowel pin in the center locates the jaws with tenths repeatability. The bolt hole pattern is an industry standard 1/2"-13 thread, 3.875" center to center x 0.9375" from the base, same as what you'd find on a Kurt or similar vise.

Damn! If I ever get the chance to get one of these I'll have to build a nice crystal display case to keep it in! Beautiful! Never thought I'd say that about a vise!

    cheers,

    Gorgeous vises.

Just curious, there was a Sol with Glacern, are you one and the same?

    bob

Ian and Bob, thanks for the kind words!

I am indeed the same Sol. I left Glacern over a year ago (the environment wasn't right for me, to put it lightly) and have been on my own since. The only people I answer to now are our customers and my wife.

The product line of Orange Vise Company is much more focused, as we concentrate only on vise and quick-change workholding. However, our videos will cover a broad range of machining topics, and I hope to consistently produce fresh content in December and throughout 2013.

The center jaw is located using 1/2" dowel pins (0.4998") that slide into HRC 60+ hardened bushings for tenths accuracy in all three axes.

A unique feature of our vise is that the center jaw can be offset by 0.875" or 1.750" from the centerline. The normal jaw capacity is 4.25" per station, but can be offset to 6" / 2.5".

nifty. i had the idea of milling a vise from cast bar long ago, but it seemed too expensive. i was right!

now why do i still want 16 4" versions for my pallet changing hmc?

The added cost of solid bar and increased machining time is actually quite low, and the minor cost increase is offset by the fact that we essentially have a 0% defect rate. Orange Vises are priced in line with the market... same ballpark as Kurt, Chick, Toolex, and Jergens vises (street prices).

Our vises are available without the Ball Coupler system (they can be purchased later at any time), which drops the price quite a bit.

Our jaws, both hardened and machinable soft versions, are priced substantially lower than the competition, so the actual cost of ownership of Orange Vises is significantly lower.

We'll have smaller versions available in 2013. Quantity discounts are available as well.
