hey everyone my first post

So im getting close to finishing my machine finding it hard to decide what worktop to put on it wood is out of the question its soaks up all the coolant choice is mild steel 10mm or aluminium at 15mm im not to fussed about weight really don't have a clue on what to do and advice would be appreciated

Steel rusts, so you need to apply a protective coating. If decide on steel and paint it. be sure to prep the steel for paint by applying Prep-etch\Clean-strip to the metal. This will help the paint to bind to the metal.

Also consider that your machine stand need to be robust and rigid to avoid movement when machining metal. Ideally you should bolt the machine to the stand.
