I am thinking about adding two laser lines to find X-Y zero cross-hairs on the table. Has anyone tried adding lasers to their DIY CNC? I found the lasers on e-bay for about $22. And they shouldn't be that hard to install.:idea:

Shouldn't be too hard to install and get lined up with your router/spindle 0/0. However, laser lines (like laser levels) don't have a very fine projected line so if you are expecting to be able to get exactly to 0/0 using the laser lines you might find it is not real accurate.

If you are just using it to get close they should work fine. I use one on my drill press to get a part lined up before I drill but I don't expect any accuracy out of it.

You don't need to have them line up. A simple macro added to a button can set the 0,0 point when just the laser is over the corner.
Just add the correct offset distances to this macro.

XOffset = 3.4 'X offset from laser crosshair to spindle
YOffset = 4.3 'Y offset from laser crosshair to spindle
