Can anyone tell me the current cost of MasterCam for a 3 axis license?
I heard there may be different levels of 3 axis, so I think I would want the best/most advanced level for cutting surfaces / molds / dies etc.
Location is Michigan if it matters....

you have choice of :
Mill Level 1
Mill Level 2
Mill Level 3
MultiAxis
---- add-ons to any of these levels can be "SOLIDS" & "FULL 4 and 5 AXIS MACHINING"


If you are doing molds etc, by ustilizing surface machining, then Mill level 3 would be the starting point.

You can use a 3rd party CAD to create your solid models, but that can (at times) be a *****.
If you don't have SOLIDS, then you cannot move, modify, create anything within Mastercam

Multiaxis is for programming rotary movement. using the rotary axes for (3+1 or 3+2) positioning only.
ie rotate to an angle then run a 3 axis or 3D surfacing operation.

The full 4 or 5 axis option allows programming to use the machine it's fullest capability


IMO, your price to hunt for is for Mill level 3 with SOLIDS, that is if you don't have a 4th axis,. It can be added on later if your capability changes.

PS- also investigate the possibilities of Mastercam for Solidworks, You must also have purchased Solidworks beforehand. This mastercam does NOT have all the same functionality as a full blown Mastercam version

I have Mcam X6 Mill level 3 Lathe level 2 Solids and I have 15,000 vested.

If you just want Mill with 3d options I would say around 10,000 to 13,000

I thought you knew. The price of MasterCam is negotiable. The resellers do have a minimum they have to charge to break even. But that price is never, ever to be published. After that it becomes a game whose vise grip pliers can squeeze whose nads the hardest. The resellers have bigger pliers in almost all cases. ROFLMBO

Which is precisely why I responded as I did.
The negotiable nature of the product turns the resellers into nothing more than used car salesmen.

If you pay more, do you get a better quality of tech support? Extra C-hooks? A free extra dongle with every purchase of 4 seats?

My situation got me a very good price, and I can't say enough good things about my reseller... BUT..... If yours is a dick? Why should you get any less than what anyone else gets?

This was NOT an ad. & why the attack...you're NOT the person asking for the info. You have been around for a fair time, hung out in this arena to know how it all works.

You have to know what it is, that you need to ask for....
The OP more or less asked...How much is a car?

- knock out a deal, have training, posts, support etc all written & locked into a contract. So that all parties meet their obligations - if any part of the deal is not completed ( by a set timeframe) to the other's satisfaction, then there is the avenue of voiding the contract & receiving a refund on the original outlay.

You can go and spend $35K, get all the bells & whistles, and be totally dis-satisfied that being a newbie that you have just been taken to the cleaners. Or get the most basic Mill level 1 for $10K, & be just as pissed off that you still have to fork out more $$$ just to be able to do a toolpath on a solid surface. ( prices are guestimates )

I didn't give prices that were applicable to my part of the globe ( I'm an ocean away & use a different currency ). I'd guess that the U.S. would have the lowest prices, I heard that Canada also has a big markup. So I deliberately did not give any costing for those reasons.

I've been around long enough to have seen time and time again people asking how much and not getting a firm answer from a "reseller". That said, I'll ask... since you were offended by my not being the original inquirer...

Thanks for the input guys, it is helpfull to learn about the options, the whole process can be daunting, and in my case the reseller may or may not have told me I didn't need the full blown solid modeling options etc. I don't remember actually. It is hard to get everything straight while trying to figure out if a product is going to work for you or not. Anyways, it really helped me to learn that I might be able to strip off some of the cad functions as I really do not need them. And based on the price above I am being quoted something way more than I need, I am being hit up for 18,500 I believe but that included the first years maintenance....

There is no other cad inside Mastercam. But you can get Mastercam 4 solid works as a cam add-on.
And the pricing be shown is incorect.
