Hello ,
Could anybody explain to me how I should name my layers in AutoCAD to create a workable DXF file to insert into a Biesse Rover 13s?
Or maybe anyone has an example of such a DXF file so I can figure it out?
Thanks in advance,
Jeroen

Draw a rectangle to represent the panel.
This will need to be on a layer named.......panel19 for 19mm thk
panel6P35 for 6.35mm thk and so on.
For the shape to rout, it must be a joined polyline, circle or rectangle.
This will need to be on a layer named.......rotor3 for 3mm deep,
rotor1P5 for 1.5mm deep and so on.
For a drill, draw a circle the EXACT diameter of your drill bit.
This will need to be put on a layer named......vertical10 for 10mm deep hole,
vertical4.2 for 4.2mm deep hole.
After all this is done, make sure you move the origin to the lower left corner
of the rectangle that represents the panel.
You can now save the dxf as R12 dxf set optons to choose objects. Then pick
the objects you want to save.
This is a very basic biesse dxf setup. There are other things that can be controlled
in the layer name also, such as rot speed, feed speed, tool correction, etc.
Hope this gets you started

Hello John,
thanks for your reply!
This is something to start with. I would think there would be some documentation somewhere, but I can't seem to find anything. Only this one;
http://ftp.cnigroup.net/Browser/down...d3_ing_v15.pdf
But now with your explanation, suddenly a lot more things in this one become clear.
Thanks!
Any more tips are still welcome!

Hm,
created a DXF with only the layernames, a panel and 2 circles.
The NC400 will not load the file: "floppy error".
Any suggestions?
thnx!

Make sure the floppy disc has been formatted to biesse NC format.
I assume you are doing the cad work in the office, saving dxf
to floppy then taking floppy out to the machine?
John
Hi John!
I've just picked up an old Rover 13S and I'd really like to hear if you have a complete list of layer names to be used :-)
There was loads of info and documentation following the machine, but I've yet to find anything regarding dxf import...
Best regards
