I am ordering a new plasmacam 4X4 monday with the advanced HC. I am trying to get everything togather so all goes smooth and I can start playing when it gets here :-)

I will be using a handheld torch in the plasma cam.
Do I need the ohmic tip for use with the advanced height control?

I just ordered the 220673 Shield/Deflector. Did I waste my money on it?

The PlasmaCam with the advanced height control option uses ohmic plate contact to calibrate the z axis before each cut. To do this with the Powermax45 you need the Ohmic retaining cap as well as the mechanized shield (not the drag shield that comes with the hand torch. You will use the mechanized cut charts from your Powermax45 manual for cutting specs.....just pretend you are using the machine torch.

The hand torch cuts the same as the machine torch....the difficulty is with mounting the hand torch so that it is perfectly perpendicular to the plate. Also.....with the hand torch version you will have to cut and splice th safety trigger circuit to complete the electrical interface between the PlasmaCam and the Powermax.

With the machine torch....the interface connections are on the machine interface connector on the rear panel....and the torch barrel is designed for easy, repeatable mounting.
