What is the name of this file format?

Recently a customer asked me to add a new file format to my program Pointor.

Pointor is used for CNC things, but also for many other things (for example GIS). I don't know if this format is a standard CNC one, it looks like it.

    Here is an example:

    x165.00000 y0.00000 z1.78125 a0.00000
    x167.50000 y0.00000 z1.73750 a0.00000
    x192.50000 y0.00000 z1.84063 a0.00000
    ...

The sample I got started with a blank line, though I don't know if that is usual or required.

Does that have an official name (so I can put that in the help file for the program) ?

That is just 4 axis coordinates. It may be a format used by some machine but I don't know why you would expect someone to be able to tell what it was. It is NOT G code or any other machine code I am aware of. It may well be just a point cloud, it's hard to say.

I got the 4 axis, but I thought someone might recognise it as belonging to a particular software or machine.

There are a few variations of the RS274 standard out there, for example one similar to that is RS27D or Gerber files for printed circuits etc.
There is also one used in Plasma machines called ESSI language.

Thanks, so if I put in the help file "4 axis RS274 and similar" people will know what I am talking about?

    I'll give an example too.

That could just be a point cloud from doing 3D probing.

    A Challenge is good

Are you able to input the files into your system ? or do you need to convert them to something else to work ?

Have you more lines of code that could be analysed further ?

I've done all the work Pointor reads these files fine. My question was about giving a name to the format.

I'll add that phrase into the help file page, it will help users find what they are looking for, thanks!
