Hi Overrev,
I was wondering if you could do me a small favor. I noticed in your adds a picture of your mill that showed the X axis stepper. Is your Y axis stepper the the same size as the Z axis? I'm wondering now if my steppers were installed with the X and Y swapped, (I have the smaller one on the Y axis).
x and y steppers are the same on mine, and by the look on his. only the z is bigger.
The stepper motors for the X and Y axes are the smaller models and the Z axis is the only larger stepper motor used. If you have a larger motor on X or Y axis, it was somehow upgraded for some reason. The difference in torque is negligible for the two motors but Z is slightly larger to assist in overcoming the head weight beyond the use of the gas springs to support the head.
I hope this clarifies the motors used.
Regards,
Novakon Team
Hmm, maybe I got a bonus! I might as well take advantage of the extra power and put the bigger one on the Y axis. Thanks for getting back to me.
Edit...
Man, I better go back on my medication! I'm not sure why I thought I had two larger steppers. I do have one large and two small..
