    Altering reference position

    Control: 0MD

after a crash, reference position is now .196mm above what it was. If i let it like that, all the Z origin of my previous program should be shifted of -.196. To avoid this, i try input .196 in prm #710. After this change, i rehomed my Z and, at reference point machine coordinate show Z .196. exactly what i wanted. But after power off/ power on, Z at reference is now 0. Normally, Absolute coordinate should be (machine coordinate - work offset) now it is (machine coordinate - work offset +.196).

I know that i can change all my previous z origin but i try avoid it. Another option could be to set all my tool length .196 shorter. Actually, tool length is the distance from the bottom of the spindle to the tool tip. If I change it to have tool .196 shorter, tool will be measured from a point that doesn't exist physically and i don't like it.

    Is there a software solution???

also, in the parameter manual, 0708 to 0711 (X to 4) Coordinates of the reference position for automatic coordinate system setting
    0815 to 0818 (X to 4)
I try parameter 817 with no effect, what is the difference with 710 and 817?

faking it is not a good idea. try power-on while holding some specific buttons (I dont have the info handy right now) to make it forget the zero return position held by battery then zero return machine. this is your new home.
then re-set all tools so lengths are measured from reference point etc.
other home is history now, regardless. get new zero return home and re-set all tools is the best way.
