    TL2 door modification

Has anyone modified the door on one of these machines? The problem is the door does not move back far enough and fouls the area that you would normally use to tighten the chuck. This means thta you have to tighten the chuck in the horizontal position which then leads to the chuck key being dropped and damaging the z rails. I cant believe these machines are made with this design flaw. I was thinking of grinding a slot in the panel so that the door can move right back but then the door will drop. Any ideas?

Maybe purpose of the design is to prevent people leaving the chuck key in the chuck

An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

Or, make a chuck wrench with a longer shaft so you can use it in the vertical position as you are wanting to but getting the handle high enough for clearance.

I think i will make a longer chuck key so i can use it in the verticle position
The fact that the door doesnt slide back is such a poor design and im suprised they havent altered it. Not only that but the machines over here also come with a chuck guard (not sure if these are fitted in the us?) which meant that it would foul on the tool post when you wanted to machine anywhere near the chuck. This lasted approx 2 days before it was removed!
