    Absolute Shifting on Heidehain

    Hi
Im using Heidenhain itnc530 control on 5axes mill (but milling in 3 axes here)can anyone tell me if I datum shift in z axes +80mm Abs in main program
then call a sub programme and write the same datum shift z+80mm in Abs not inc- as a safety at every tool call will it stay at 80mm or keep adding
to shift amount. so I can run a tool after re probing it at any point within the sub programme by going to the sub programme call line in main then
goto whatever toolcall line is needed so the shift does not get missed and mc crashes the -80mm in z -not tried it but i would hope it stays absolute -any
    experience would be apreciated.

yes if you do a datum shift of the same value it will stay the same

    IE

    DATUM SHIFT
    X 2.0000
    Y 2.0000
    Z 0.0000

    bunch of program

    X 2.0000
    Y 2.0000
    Z .5000

x and y remain unchanged[and needn't be included, but I do frequently as I program at the machine] z changes

    if later you put in:

    X 2.0000
    Y 2.0000
    Z .5000

    nothing changes

It is also good practice if you may ever start a program in the middle for any reason

    Thanks gus for confirming that,
this helps with my confidence when restarting in middle of subprog after changing worn tools.
regards for quick answer to my first post.
