    Thin plastic engraving material

I have bought .020" thick reverse engraved and paint filled labels in the past from an engraving company. Now that I have an engraving head for my CNC router I am trying to find the material. Seems that Rowmark, Gravograph, and all of the other companies I have checked only go down to .032" thick material. Any idea where I can get the thinner material from?

That was where I checked first, but Gravograph does not make anything that thin.

Just looking at Gravograph's web site, and they list 0.020" thick stock.

    Engravable Materials

I really need a vacuum table to hold this stuff for engraving. Picked up a 2' x 4' sheet for $65 (ouch!) Friday, took a little to dial it in, but coming along.

You can make a vacuum table, use peg board, make a box the size you need, place the peg board on the top with a tight seal, use a vacuum cleaner for the suction, a small one will do, something around 1/2 hp / 1 hp, the sections of the table you are not in need of you can tape off so you don't loose suction, if it's a large table you will need to add supports in the center to keep it from distorting, and to keep you table top flat fore engraving.

Glad I could help. Remember you need good supports under the peg board.

    Smile Re: Plastic engraving

Plastic has not enough strength than the metals...
SO you have to give the support for it...
Other wise it doesn't work properly...
So be careful while engrave the plastic...
