    Unhappy Mazak Mill Productivity

we have a Mazak Mill and supposedly there is a feature or a way to divide the table and be able to load one side/job whilst the machine is running another job on the other side/half. I think ther MAY be a a "Divider" stashed somewhere here in the shop and if so, is there anything special we need or is there somewhere in the fusion 640 control software built in for running the machine like this? or do we need to do manual G-code programming to get this to happen?.

Wow- I have spent quite a bit of time searching for ANYTHING about this feature and there is nothing excpt for one post stating that someone has one with what he called "poor man's pallet changer" I can't even find a picture. it actually seems like a good idea if you dont have the room or money for a pallet changer... too bad

    VTC250 pallet/dividers

Here's a few pics of our VTC250 pallet dividers.
All of our VTC's are outfitted with this option.
That's right I said option. It's an upgrade and it work awesome.
You put the divider in place and it automatically reconfigs the mills travel limits.
Zone 1 and 2 buttons become active and you use an m-code to get from one zone to the other.
If this option wasn't installed at the factory, you can have Mazak install this in the field.

    Mcode

M911 for pallet one (right side)
M912 for pallet two (left side)

Also do not shut off the machine when it is on pallet 2. It is a pain to get it homed out again because the wall is in the way in X. We have this option on 4 of out machines but its been a long time since we used it. The workspace is very small on each side.

On all of our VTC's it is M71 and M72.
Also if you shut the machine off and back on in zone 2, the easiest thing to do to home the mill is take the divider off, home the machine, then replace the divider.
OR...you will have to manually move the spindle to the home 2 position and then move the spindle to zone 1 before homing the machine.

    Metalhead...
We've got Mazak's, Okuma's, Mori's and yes unfortunately we even have a few Haas machines.

Haas machines are cheap and don't hold up over time.
But go ahead and continue using them, just makes for easy competition, lol
