    Waterline finishing problem

I have had problems getting SC7 to recognize the safe height I set in the program.
I just discovered that turning off the fast calc method window in the miscellaneous tab fixed the problem.

This was on a multiple hole waterline operation and if the cutter was set right on zero it would skim the part when traversing to the next hole (not recognizing the safe height), I got around it by raising the cutter zero point a few thousanths to ensure that it would clear the part as in this case it was a straight sided hole and this would work.
This problem would show up on some holes but didnt always happen, some holes the safe height was as it was set in the program, others it wasnt there.

    Anuyone have problems with this?

You might want to look at the "stepover type" in the parameters and make sure its not on " on surface" , which takes the smallest time per operation, but can screw you up if you have multiple pockets.
the safest is always setting "stepover type" to "via safe plane" and of course specifying an appropriate safety z plane height.

    cheers

It wasnt on surface Alan, I switched to safe plane though as you recommended.

The fast calc disable fixed the problem this time, I will see how it works in the future..

    thanks
