Build Thread: Kflop with small cnc router

I have ordered a Kflop which should be here in the next couple of days. After I have finished up a few paying jobs on my router I will have an opertunity to change from parallel port to kflop.

This will be a documentation thread to track my progress. I also have a pokeys controller in my system so others may be intrested in how I get on.

I will be running open loop with my steppers so nothing fancy for the moment, but I am tempted to try an encoder on the stepper in the future.

Need a little help with the first hurdle.

Trying to install kflop drivers on a vista 64 bit laptop. I keep getting a failure notice once the driver installs. In the device manager I can see the Kflop but it has a warning symbol next to the driver title and it states the driver did not install correctly, the kmotion software will not pick up the board also.

Are there any known reasons this may be happening.

Hi Al, I think so. The laptop is a couple of years old. On one side of the machine are two usb ports that look standard on the other is one extra port with a lightning bolt next to it I assume this is a faster port.

I also tried my desktop which is running 32bit xp and the drivers did install correctly and I can communicate with the board. The desktop is about 8 years old.

    Cheers

    Hi Gav,

The drivers should work with 64-bit Windows. I haven't heard of any problems. I have a W7 64 i7 computer.

There are some nag messages that you need to agree with. Do you have admin privileges?

Have you tried right-click uninstalling the driver and reloading and forcing (have disk, etc...) the drivers in the KMotion installation's USB Drivers directory?

    Regards
