    Heidenhain ERO 115 encoder problem

    Hello,
I have a Bridgeport SeriesII with TNC145 and SEM MT30R4-58 motors with heidenhain ERO115 encoders. One of the encoders had problems because of light bulb was blown, so I managed to find a light bulb of that size (T1) and put in place, but now it doesn´t work and as soon as the motor spin it goes to a "X measuring system defective" error in TNC145. Does anyone know how to properly align the encoder as I guess is a alignement problem. Thank you.

I have taken them apart before and they do not care about alignment

Perhaps the bulb is not right or you have not connected or assembled something correctly

    >edit< take the cover off of another one and look to see if you can see a difference

    Hello,
I opened a encoder housing from the working machine and i see that the encoder board is a bit different as you can see in the attached pics, first picture is the encoder that is not working S/N 21975203 and the second is the encoder working S/N 21975204. Is it possible that there are 2 types of encoder ERO115 125 and they are not compatible?

where is the jumper that is on the working encoder?

why is the resistor jumped out on the non working encoder?

I made a sketch with the encoder that doesn´t work, the jumper in the working encoder is the light bulb that is connected, as it can be seen in the backside of the board, the resistor is part of the light circuit that is isolated from the photoelectric sensors that give the sinusoidal waveform

Alignment does matter and Heidenhain publish a text on how it affects the accuracy of an encoder.
It`s not the problem here but it is a problem.

have seen the encoder numbers and the working one is a
    ERO115 125 D1 ID nr 217 900 01
and the encoder that is not working is a
    ERO115 125 H11 ID nr 217 900 04

Do you know abut the compatibility of this encoders?

If you look on the Heidenhain website you will find the details on these. It is not easy to find but it is there.
May be quicker calling Heid technical support. It is free but sometimes not all that accurate

Clarkson Company has been repairing these for 22 yrs. The bulb is specific to Heidenhain and Alignment is necessary. Otherwise it's a 50/50 chance of working
