    File size

Is 60.5 mb to much for bobcad to open? I have a .stp file that doesnt want to open. I get bobcad not responding.

    Hi 1 2,
The "not responding" that you may see at the top, is usually an indicator to "wait"..... You will see that if an app is crunching and you perform some other action, like "click" or a mouseover.....

The other thing to try if you have a heavy file, is to go to the display preferences in "part" and set the surface and wireframe display way down, then also go to the view menu and turn off all the extra fancy stuff, then Merge the file in. Then you can start to bring the display back to a finer resolution.

I turned the wire frame and the shading quality way down. also turned off ortho and shading smooth. Gave it over 1 hour. This file will open in turbo cad but it takes about 10 min.

Saved it as a .stl. It will open but a few surfaces are missing. Thats not a big deal though. The only problem is all the drilled holes are coverd up. If i veiw it transparnt i can see them. I tryed extracting the edges but that didnt seem to do anything.I would like to get the edges so i can project them to a surface to get the 2d geometry.
