    Training material needed for beginner..

Greetings! I am new to Milling (little higher mechanical aptitude with 9 months intensive hands on work, 3 years of 2D drafting, guided by 30 years exp. ) and brand new to CNC Zone. I know the basics and need to gain confidence. I want to be able to rely less on my teacher and show more initiative. Does anyone have a training curriculum that works easier to harder? Any help/advice/facts/ect. is great appreciated!

Start with a scale and scribe and file. Work your way up from there. Look into the NTMA, ToolingU and other training materials.

Definatly looking into both. Do you know where I can obtain simple plans or projects to mill. I have mills at my disposal and want to teach myself.

The NTMA blueprint reading course has some blueprints. The certification program has project blueprints. Many starting machinists make their own vise stops, tooling vises, and tool setting dial indicator blocks as first projects.

try your local JR colleges, sometimes they have courses in machining.

A sinebar will be useful if you stay in the trade. You can make it now and heat treat/grind later.

Just the basics on measuring, drilling, Milling and turning. Nine or ten videos:

For a simple project, make a Milling clamp with a serrated\step edge.
Another simple project is to square up a metal cube or rectangle.
