My idea was an x shaped mount with 3 spindles and a circuit distribution board mount. 90 left and right, ruff in, detail then finishing bit. I have alot to learn still but love to build

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can monitor my spindles speed?
I was thinking a simple Hall effect sensor would do but have never tried

Re: My desktop cnc with home made spindle

I am setting up to use an optical interrupt sensor. Mach3 if that's what Ur using can accept input from one as an index pulse. I believe it will display it as rpm but not sure. I'll link the thread I found regarding it.

I am also currently using a optical hand based point and shoot tester for rpm, but am in the process of researching a circuit setup and sensor perma mounted.

Still waiting on my BOB so I have started working on little improvements to my laser cnc.
I built a new motherboard for the arduino nano and easydrivers also incorporating a atmega328 for future laser monitoring "laser power and serial lcd monitor". The laser driver and on/off control circuit is also built in for a compact design.

Next I am going to replace all of the MDF with fresh clean board and paint it.
Along with a cleaning of all extrusion cuts and surfaces as the cnc was built with hand tools and not that great looking.
My shop at work has a small bandsaw I can use in order to alow me to make clean cuts, hacksaw kills the arms after a few cuts into extrusion and never end up with a true square cut

Pic of me playing with the cnc testing its ability

Well it's here and not to happy but you get what you pay for!
Just hope it works as stated and that's all that matters at this moment.
It was damaged but not something that could not be fixed

Yes indeed I have some OCD lol
I just like the feeling I get from looking at a completed job
My main thing is clean lay out, it makes for easy trouble shooting and better air flow/cooling.
If I open something up and it's a rats nest I go crazy lol
I'm about to pop in the little disc that came with it to see it I luck out with a copy of Mach3 like my buddy did

That is the plan but first I want to see how we'll this made up RC spindle works.
Then if I'm happy the quest will begin lol
What I have in my head is 3 L brackets to mount the spindles, flat base for mounting control board and center mounting to a stepper for rotating each spindle into position an a locking pin controlled by a solenoid.

Any luck with the 6560 drives? I fixed my missed steps by swapping x for the 4th. So I know the x circuit has issues somewhere.

Yea. Hopefully they designed them half way decent. Looking at all the eBay offerings I'm gonna order one that has a 0-10v output integrated for spindle control.
