    Maho MH600E Y axis Brake?

    Hello Folks,

I am in the process of rewiring my old MH600E (1986ish) and could use a little help.

There is a switch on the relay board on the inside of the electrical cabinet door which is labeled "Y axis brake release" or something like that. I have removed 95% of the machine's covers and haven't found any sign of a braking mechanism for that axis.

Most of the electronics have been stripped from the machine and I want to pull the Y axis servo, but am hesitant to do that without confirming the bed height may be locked by the motor and may come tumblin' down if I pull the servo.

    Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks,
    DB.

    Me again,

I raised the bed, blocked it and pulled the servo. I guess the brake is integral in the motor as it is tough to turn even removed from the machine, while the ballscrew seems to move freely.

Another issue is how to pull the pulley from the motor shaft. The other 2 axis had a neat locking system, but it seems the small pulley on the Y-axis has been pressed on with some god-like force! I tried a small puller, but no luck. Does anyone have the inside scoop on this pulley? Is it simply pressed on?

    Thanks again,
    DB.

    Hello,

tap, tap tap. Is this thing on?

It looks like I'm the only one involved in this thread, but I'm gonna take a shot here anyhow. I am still involved in this rewire job and I was hoping someone out there might have some information on the transformers in a 1986 Maho MH600E machine. I seem to have every manual for this old girl except for the electrical one. Can anyone offer some insight as to how these transformers are setup?

    Thanks,
    DB.

Davey Boy, I would ask the folks at Practical Machinist. Or try Maho.
