Haas Home Made Automatic CNC toolsetter

    Hello everybody,
In past, I used to use Renishaw laser and touch toolsetter, and have seen a lot of projects over the internet how people make home made automatic CNC toolsetters. Did anybody of u guys tried use this type of setter on Haas Milling machine?

Is anybody here who really specialize in this topic and know how to connect home made setter to controller to make machine
"catch input" when probe if on?

Do I need to connect this probe somewhere to board ? and voltage?
Do i need any additional electronic devices to change high voltage output 12v
    to low voltage?

If there is any professional electrician - who knows a lot about CNC please contact with me by email [email protected] or post here.
I am willing to pay for any king of help with understading this project.

    Regards

    Hi,

I have used a home-made tool setter on my 1994 VF3, it was fairly easy really. It needs to break the "skip" signal circuit, I have attached a picture of where it is on the board. There are three wires, one is 12V, one is 12V return and one is shield drain. The shield of your cable should be attached to the shield drain, and the normally closed switch between the other two. The other cables in there are wired the same way, just do it the same.

You do not need any other voltages or converters, just a switch!

I built my toolsetter out of gold pins on a PCB and made a housing for it, pretty repeatable to about .001in.

    Good luck,
    Dustin
