    Re: Hello . Yes - 3D and 2D .

I sure have not had any luck with Bobcad , they havent got back to me
Im little worried that maybe they cant get biesse to work for me .
so maybe we have to go alphacam , or get training on biesse works which I already have , that would just cost time and learning another program I guess

    we have it moving cheers
    doing a tool change cheers
but still has some quirks ..............

in the first line numbers over 1000 had a , they may not have that the rest of the code was ok
    [PARAMETRI01]
    N10 G71 HC=1 LX=1,333.5000 LY=1,222.3750 PLPZ=9.5250 PCSG=0.0 PDM=0 PUOS=0 NFIL=1 FIL=1 BLO=0 ACC=0 RUO=0 PRS=1 PRL=1 PPWQ=0 PMZS=0 PMZD=0 PRUA=0 KA=0

now Im still working on on the speeds and feeds spindle speed we can adjust
but the machining speed goes way to fast still

between every rapid move the z axis also goes back to 0 position which is a wasted move
I like when I can program and machine in the most efficient way possible

we have finnally made some headways if we get it working to our satisfaction remains to be seen

ok we fixed a few quirks
but Im starting to find out I paid money for something that Bobcad is still in the development stage and im the guinea pig helping them write a post between me and the software tec giving info on our errors we get
there is very basic milling stuff that isnt working properly, and if bobcad had a post developed that was working I would not get the problems I am getting
I will leave it in thier hands now
but I will have too see which direction i will take from here
I just heard back from another user on this forum who is at the same stage Im at with bobcad with a biesse
so this just gives me the answer that I didnt want to hear,
and that is they dont have a working post
, why would they not tell me so from the beginning ...........

you seem to think alphacam is the way to go
    why alphacam versus mastercam

Be aware that you will definitely need a fair amount of training with either package. These are not simple CAM programs.
I use a 10 year old version of AlphaCAM that we got with our Morbidelli.
I really only use about 5% of it's capabilities.
I nest cabinet part dxf files that come from a custom cabinet program, and create toolpaths from .dxf files from AutoCAD.

What AlphaCAM and MasterCAM router have going for them is that they are used by thousands of people with machines like yours, so there shouldn't be a problem getting a post that works. Having said that, when you purchase, make sure you are getting a fully functional post. Ours came with our machine. But I'm not very trusting of software salesman.

Ok I may as well spend time training on biesse works and import dxf files into biesse works etc. I have biesse works so I don't need to go out and buy another program. We asked the master cam dealer for references and he hasn't given us any. We have come to realize it must be difficult to write a post for biesse. And biesse we know works so we will head in that direction and hopefully get our post money back from bobcad

    Re: bobCad + BIESSE .

i wrote a fully working bobcad post about 8 years ago- unfortunately- i hated the program so didnt use it very much.
i lost the post id written from a virus strike - which was a pretty long drawn out job at the time.
biesse over complicate their stuff- both hardware and software to keep it in their control and make them the money.
ive since retrofitted my controls- so everything is cheap and easy now
so much to learn, so much to pass on.

    Re: bobCad + BIESSE .

BIESSE is great , they have a lot of neat features . and super fast
I think the way they program is the way of the future if you want to automate and communicate with other machines
    who else has WINSTORE ?
And I have been told there is no other system that works as well with Cabinet vision as does Biesse
and I have lots of friends that are using biesse sucessfully, just not with BOBCAD , and that is where we may have to switch we have mastered tweaking the code in bobcad that it works , but want to try and get training on Biesse works as well
but I agree they are complicated , life was never meant to simple
Having been used to a thermwood control it is a big learning curve

ok how much experience do you have
    and on software side

we have a biesse rover B 7.40 FTK flat table 5x12
FTK can not do pendelomn machining
but is there any way if we only use the first 5' of the table that only the first 5' would have vacuum so there would not be as much vacuum loss ?
it has 4 valves 1 approx every 3' and These are opened and closed somewhere in the software side but think they all run together because its an ftk
Im quite sure its something that would be just in the software

I don't doubt what you are saying
I am learning how to work around some of the quirks and showing the quirks to Bobcad and than with time they get the post fixed , we do a lot of the same type of work so we are getting it figured out, with time and effort
Starting over I would definitely go with something else possibly Alphacam or Mastercam
the only thing that's keeping me is the cost
Bobcad on the cad side has some neat features and I can out perform the mastercam sales guy ,
So having said that I would probably try Alphacam
so to clarify its the Post processor end of Bobcad we are having issues not the Cad .

    Re: bobCad + BIESSE .

we have moved on . we are using a biesse works now , the post never worked successfully for us , and Bobcad V30 crashes for no reason , they would try to fix the post only to have another issue show up , I had a tech to fix the crashing issue and it still does it
we cut into our spoil board way too often and spend almost 3 months . so the time we spend and problems we had Bobcad was an expensive program for us ,
They dont want to issue a refund either , but the money we paid for the software and post is small compared to the time we spend ,
Two proven programs for Biesse are Biesseworks and next inline would be alphacam from our research we did

Thank goodness,,,,alphacam has a 100% post,,,I sell about 2 a week ,,,,the Alphacam post rarely has any modifications,,,unlike its competitors Mastercam, gibbscam, surfcam, bobcad which I find myself making post modifications even on the same exact machine..

Research can save a lot of time and money when you have oddball OEM systems which are known to be incompatible with a wide range of software, if you do it first ;-)
