    Cutting speeds for carbide reamer

    Hello,

Tiny problem here. Our boss likes to order tools and not finding out what sort of speeds and feeds should be used with them, so have to find out myself.
We have 12mm Magaforce carbide reamer and are using it on cast iron. All we need now is cutting speeds and feeds. I found some SFPM speed but was getting weird results with them, so metric figures would be nice.

I programmed a 0.500" 4 flute carbide ream in 2024 aluminum today for 261 SFM and 0.0008" IPT, which comes out to about 2000 RPM and 12 IPM. For cast iron, you probably want something more in the 125 SFM range. I'll leave it to you to do the conversions.

    I'll second that.
