    Out Of Memory.

    Hi Guys

I'm having a "system.outofmemoryexception" and it's really putting a damper on my day.
It's happening when I try to generate cut-paths on a trapezoidal timing pulley. Roughing is fine, but with the finishing cut it just won't play the game.

This is on a 64 bit win7 machine and it's a part that I previously generated and cut perfectly on my old 32bit winXP machine. All other cuts on this part generate fine and this one is no more or less complex.

Is there a work-around or way to solve this?

On the task-manager it gets to 1,444,296k of memory before it throws the exception. If I kill all my other 32bit applications I might free up 2MB. I need to finish this post and shut firefox to do that.

I found a utility that removes the 2mb memory access limit for 32bit applications on 64 bit win7. But now it just hangs when it gets a bit further along.

Is there any way around this? I need to get this job finished and off my mill.

    Hello Dougal,

What sort of machining operation are you trying?

If it is a 3D finishing operation, using a too fine stepover or resolution property can result in an out of memory error.

Trying the latest development release may also help...

This version should be replacing the latest stable version soon.

If you are still running into problems you are welcome to email a file and I would be happy to investigate.

    Thanks for the reply.

This is a profiling an HTD timing pulley with a 3mm end-mill, the roughing with a 0.3mm offset works perfectly, but the finishing, which is the same as the roughing, just not offset and traversing in the opposite direction (climb vs conventional) keeps running out of memory and hanging. The roughing also has a 1mm cut depth, the finishing has 2mm, so the finishing has about half the total cut length.

I made an indentical part last year using CAMBAM on my old XP computer. But my mill speeds/feeds have changed since, so I needed to change the cut-depth and this is where I am at.

Release is R8L, which I thought was up-to-date, but you've popped out another one in the last few weeks. Thanks for your continued support. I will email the .cb file.
I will check my old XP computer next, see if it will do what I need.

    Hello Dougal,

I hope you got my email reply. I will post a follow up here, just in case any one else runs into this problem.

The problem occurs when using a spiral lead in move, where the ramp angle is set to 180 degrees.

Valid ramp angles lie between 0 degrees (horizontal) and 90 degrees (a vertical plunge). Once again, I am sorry we are not checking for an angle outside this range here and reporting an error message. I will make sure this is fixed in the development release.

Setting the ramp angle to 0 in this case fixes the problem. When a 0 degree ramp is specified, an angle is automatically calculated so that it will cut one depth increment per cut outline.

    I hope this helps.
