VF-6 DC drive over current alarm z axis

We have a 1995 VF-6 and we get an intermitent z axis over current alarm only when we run at 100% rapid. Is there a way to slow down just the Z axis rapid, till we can get a repair guy here. We just put a new encoder on Z axis to try and fix this problem, along with new brushes, but still happens. I looked in the manual and there is a parameter listed but it does not show up on the screen at the machine. Is there a special sequence of buttons to get into axis specific parameters?

Page down. If you know parameter number, try pressing that number and enter.

The E-Stop button needs to be pressed before making a parameter change along with disabling the parameter lock.

I tried that this morning E-stop in and parameter lock off, same message "FUNCTION LOCKED" is there a parameter to disable the whole axis?

Are you sure that the parameter lock is turned off? E-Stop and parameter lock are all that you need to change parameters except for parameters which require a unlock code.

Specifically, what parameter are you looking to change?

Yes, there is a parameter to disable Z-Axis, but why are you looking to do that?

Do you have a nitrogen counter balance and if so what is the pressure reading?

We get an overcurrent alarm only in Z-axis when it rapids, I was hoping to limit only Z axis rapid rate so we can run X and Y at 100%. I"m trying to change parameter 36 Z axis max speed currently set to 27936.

Yes it has nitrogen counter balancer reading is 760 PSI one one gauge, and 730 on the other do they need to be closer to each other than that. ?

My VF-2 is supposed to be 750, and a VF-3 or VF-4 should be1100 psi, so what is yours supposed to be?

In addition to replacing the brushes, did you blow the dust out? That is very important too.

How do you like Bobcad 23, I used Bobcad from version 16 thru 20 it seemed like ther were patches almost daily to make it work in 18,19, and 20. I finally gave up on it.

V-23 works great for me. I was not a big fan of earlier versions. I had a couple many years ago. Had V21 where I used to work a few years ago and I learned that then switched to V-23 for myself. Big improvement and a totally different interface.

V-23 does all I need for now, but I can program by hand to for 4th axis and such. V-25 seems really great, but I am waiting to upgrade until I can really afford it.
