    cleaning equipment

I pray that none of my fellow members ever have to deal with a shop fire like I
have. With that being said I am trying to find a process other than media blasting to prepare some of the salvageable equipment for painting.
Have any of you had to do this or know of an alternate process for sheet metal and cast iron prep?
    thanks,
    Scott

Are you only cleaning? Or do you need to remove burned paint?

The fire was mainly in the overhead vinyl faced insulation. Most of the paint has not bubbled but it is blackened. The only thing that I have come up with so far is trying oven cleaner. I do thank you for your response.

Have you considered or inquired about dry ice blasting? From your description, I think it would work for you.

I'm not familiar with that process but will study that tonight.
    Thank you!
