Hey guys,

I've been gathering up the parts to put a 130V 2.6HP treadmill motor on my G0704. I'll never use that much HP, but I can use the extra rpm. I only have one 120V circuit in my garage and it has about 8A worth of lighting on it so I'd like to use the 220V 50A outlet I have available. I bought a KBMM-225 DC motor controller, but reading the manual it says that it puts out 0-180VDC on 220VAC.

Can I use this control with this motor? If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a 230VAC drive that will output 130VDC?

Strictly speaking you need the KBMM-225D which covers both 240 & 120v supply.
But you should be OK with that one, just set the max rpm so that the output never reaches a 180v mean, (higher rpm).

Hi Al,

That was what I thought initially, then I re-read the manual and got worried. I believe you are correct though. I can just tune the max pot to give me 130V at the outputs.

The main concern with overvolting the motor is excessive rpm, to find the max rpm of the motor, use any DC PS or automotive battery and test the rpm at a known voltage, extrapolate the rpm for 130v from this.
Then set the motor for this rpm while adjusting the max rpm pot.
