    Units Per Step For Servo

    Hi

I`m converting my x axis to a servo and am wondering what the
steps per unit would be for the motor tuning in Mach3. I`d like to
have a resolution of .001 don`t know if this is possible.

    Servo 360 oz*in at 2175 rpm
    5 TPI Ball Screw
    US Digital Encoder 250
    Gear down ratio : 3 to 1 , 20 Tooth and a 60 Tooth

There is a encoder setting counts/per unit in Mach3...I`m uncertain what
I should use as a value. It looks like two values are needed, one for the
motor tuning : units per step and one for the encoder. I hope I didn`t miss
    anything else.

    Thanks and Regards, Barry

The encoder settings in Mach3 are not for your servos. Just do the motor tuning. I think 15,000 is what your looking for.

250 in quadrature is 1000 steps per rev, X 5 turns per inch, X 3 for your gearing.
