    HDD Controller failed?

I finally got all the files and settings swapped over to another HDD, when this error popped up.

It just randomly happened out of nowhere. Its not the hard drive, but I would like to start at replacing just the ribbon cable before the actual controller. Where can I find this cable? I have a VMC 760/22 w/ DX32. If that fails, where can I find the HDD controller?

How old is the machine? Almost 20 years old? I will have to assume that against all odds you still have the original mother board with a ISA IO board plugged into it. The ribbon cable goes from that board to the HDD and another ribbon cable goes to the floppy.
I would be looking through thrift stores, Ebay, and newegg, com for a replacement. Also try cleaning the edge connector and plugging it back in.
