    Measuring stepper motor inductance

Im retrofitting a mill, its about 5 years old, it came with two round nema34 steppers (y and z) and one nema 34 square (x), both types use the same driver, so I assume they are similar. What I want to know is how to determine their inductance, so with this value I can calculate the needed or acceptable voltage.

I read on the web mentions about doing it with an scope, but not a detailed procedure. If anyone can help I will really appreciate it. Thanks!

An LCR meter would be easiest but here's a simple way that doesn't need a scope. I can't vouch for its accuracy.

Here's how to do it using an oscilloscope.
