    QMS DRO went flakey

Quality Measurement Systems 200 on the box and model 500 on the scales digital readout on my manual mill has started getting flakey. One axis drops out on occasion, then it will work a while, then do it again. Drives me nuts (short trip for me).

Any repair ideas? they look to be out of business, unless somebody knows a contact. Didn't find them on the web anyway.

can the scales be used with another readout box? How about a PC?

Shoot, the Zone won't let me upload files anymore.

I got an email from a repair tech with a procedure to repair. I was going to record it it here for future reference

    Re: QMS DRO went flakey

I'm new here. I also have a Quality Measurement Systems DRO. There are two 2-axis readout units with three scales on a horizontal boring mill. I've had the same issue. One axis drops out once in a while. I've spend quite a bit of time working on it so far and thought it was fixed, but it just dropped out again. I'm also wondering if any other scales and reader heads would be compatible with these display units. I'd appreciate any input on this. thanks, Ed
